Author tools on pendrilo.com: your author page, ARC team and mailing list

What these tools are

Pendrilo has three author tools on pendrilo.com for finding and keeping readers:

  • Your author page is a public page for your pen name, at pendrilo.com/@your-name.
  • Your ARC team is your group of advance readers. Readers can apply through your author page, if you turn on its ARC sign-up. You approve or decline them, or add a reader directly.
  • Your reader mailing list holds the readers who sign up on your author page, if you turn on its newsletter sign-up. They confirm their address by email, and you can offer them a signup reward.

You manage these tools on the website. Pendrilo Studio shows you how they stand, and each button opens the matching page in your browser.

What to know before you start

These tools are free for every account during the beta. You only need a verified email address on your pendrilo.com account.

A site administrator can switch ARC campaigns or the author mailing lists off for everyone, or limit them to admins. If a tool is missing or unavailable, it may be switched off on the website. Contact support if you need help.

See your author tools in Studio

  • 1. Open the book in Studio and click Online in the top bar. You can also choose Book → Pendrilo Online….
  • 2. Click the ARC, Author Page, Mailing List tab.
  • 3. Click Refresh to bring the figures up to date.

The tab has three sections.

ARC campaign

This section shows how many readers are on your ARC team. For each ARC campaign for this book, it shows how many readers the campaign was sent to, how many opened it, how many finished the book, and how many reviews came in. Click Manage on the Website to open the campaign in your browser.

ARC campaigns for a book appear here after you have published that book in Pendrilo Online. Click Refresh after you publish.

Author page

This section shows your author page's address and whether the page is public. Click Edit on the Website to change the page. If you haven't made one yet, click Set It Up.

Mailing list

This section shows how many subscribers you have, or "Turned off" if the mailing list is switched off. Click Manage on the Website to see and manage your list.

Choose a template for your author page

Your author page has eight templates under Look. Four are light (Classic, Rosewater, Cozy Nook and Clean Page), and four are dark (Midnight, Noir, Grimoire and Starfield). Each suits a few genres. The templates that suit your books' genres are marked, so start there.

The page editor shows your page beside the form, at desktop or phone size. View live page opens your page in a new tab. Until you publish it, only you can see it, and it is marked as a draft.

Sign-up forms on your author page

Your author page has two separate sign-ups. Each one appears only when you turn on its own toggle.

  • Newsletter: under Newsletter, turn on Show a newsletter sign-up. You must also enter your postal mailing address. The law requires it at the foot of every email, and it isn't shown on your page. Readers then leave their email under "Get my book news" and confirm it.
  • ARC team: under ARC team, turn on Show the "Join my ARC team" section. Readers can then apply for free advance copies, which you approve on your ARC team page.

Your author page's books

Your author page shows a card for each book you tick to show. A card can include the book's cover, series, genre, logline, blurb and buy buttons.

  • Books appear in the list after you publish them from Studio.
  • When you publish, Studio sends the book's Details to its card. These include the cover, series, genre, logline, blurb and store links. Each store link that is a web address gets a buy button.
  • To change a card on the website, click Edit details beside the book on your author page. There you can set its cover and add up to three store links.
  • To keep a book's details on your computer, untick Also send Book Details to my author page in the Publish tab of Pendrilo Online. Then the details are not sent when you publish.

Create and manage ARC campaigns

You create ARC campaigns on your ARC team page on pendrilo.com, not in Studio.

  • 1. Open your ARC team page. You can reach it from the Author tools section of Your account.
  • 2. Click New campaign.
  • 3. Pick one of your books.
  • 4. Set the release date and the download formats.
  • 5. Tick the readers you want to send the campaign to.
  • 6. Click Save and start. Each reader is emailed their own link.

After a campaign starts, you can manage it from the same page:

  • Click Pause to stop it for now, and Resume to start it again.
  • Click End to close the campaign.
  • Reword the campaign's emails at any time.

Reader mailing list

Readers sign up on your author page, once you turn on its newsletter sign-up. They confirm their address by email, and you can offer them a signup reward. Announcements, your subscribers and the free book for signing up are managed on the Mailing list page.

Find them on your account page

Your Your account page has an Author tools section that links to your Author page, ARC team and Mailing list, when these are available to you.

If something doesn't show

  • The sign-up form is missing from your page. Turn on its toggle under Newsletter or ARC team in the page editor.
  • An ARC campaign is missing. Publish the book in Pendrilo Online, then click Refresh.
  • The figures look out of date. Click Refresh on the tab.

For anything else, see the help center or contact support from your account page.
